Final report

Project description

This project will establish a supportive group within Forest Industry Contractors Association to facilitate a support network for women in forestry. The project will involve building actual and virtual groups offering regional meetings on key subjects directly relating to issues facing women in forestry enterprises.

The issue/opportunity

There are a number of women involved with forestry contracting businesses around the country. The women involved with these businesses often have significant influence and decisions making authority. Feed back from a focus group of women involved with forestry contracting has been that they would like additional support in their roles. In particular they would like professional advice on business administration (HR, Accounting, OSH, ACC), practical skill learning events and networking opportunities.

Method

The project will use seed funding to organise a series of regional conferences to bring together a number of women to set in place regional support mechanisms. It is also intended that we will identify on going industry sponsorship.
